It is therefore, only to be expected that she must have a code of professional ethics in the practice ofjournalism. A code of professional ethics is incontestably the motive force and guiding framework which defines the character of any professional body. The respect such a body receives from society depends on how the ground rules defining and regulating relations between members and the society are respected and vigorously enforced within the body (Alade Odunewu, 1996). This paper appraises the codes of professional ethics by the Nigerian journalists and their responsiveness towards ethical practices. The concept of social responsibility could not be devoid of ethical obligation. Therefore, codes of ethics constitute a practical way of enhancing the professional performance of practising journalists.</p>}, number={1}, journal={University of Nigeria Interdisciplinary Journal of communication Studies }, author={EZEAH, GREGORY HERBERT}, year={2020}, month={Sep.} }
