Microfinance and Women Economic Empowerment in Enugu State
Abstract
This study explores the impact of the women fund for economic empowerment on socioeconomic development of women in Enugu state. It was hypothesized that there was no significance relationship between the financial assistance received by the women and their economic growth. Purposively, copies of the questionnaire were administered on 50 women members of cooperative societies in Enugu State. T-test was applied in analyzing the hypothesis formulated. This statistical tool helped the researcher to determine the influence of the dependent variable on independent variable. The result is not significant. The data are consistent with the null hypothesis. The women fund for economic empowerment has not made significant impact on women socioeconomic development as calculated p-value is greater than 0.05 (p > 0.05). The researchers recommend, among others that Federal Government should allocate enough financial resources that can address the financial request of the applicants.
